PRIMARY LEAD TEACHER

Job Duties: Use Montessori teaching method to teach students ages 5 to 6 in a full-time Montessori classroom. Prepare and maintains a developmentally appropriate Montessori

environment that supports independence, concentration, self-regulation, and a love of learning.Plan and deliver individual and small-group instruction using Montessori methods and materials in Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, Music and Cultural Studies. Design activities to develop students’ concentration, persistence and orderly work habits. Stimulate students to become active participants in the learning process. Observe and evaluate students’ performance and potential and use the Montessori methods to measure students’ development and achievement. Use games, music, artwork and traditional Montessori materials and teaching technology to stimulate students’ thought and creativity. Model and teach grace and courtesy, care of self, care of the environment, and age-appropriate independence. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians, conduct conferences, prepare student progress reports, and collaborate with school leadership and staff to support student success and program quality.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or a foreign equivalent degree, in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a related field.

  • AMI Montessori 3-6 Certificate.

  • Two years of teaching experience at a Montessori school.

Required experience:

  • Montessori early childhood education in English-speaking classroom settings;

  • Individualized lesson planning and child-centered teaching methodologies;

  • Classroom organization and preparation of Montessori learning environments;

  • Student observation, assessment, and educational progress reporting;

  • Parent communication, conferences, and assemblies;

  • Educational documentation and record-keeping in English;

  • Participation in educational projects and digital reporting system implementation;

  • Use of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace for lesson planning, reporting, and

  • documentation;

  • Collaboration within multidisciplinary and international educational teams.

  • Using photo/video editing apps for creating educational content and materials.

Job location: Chicago, IL

Annual Salary: $51,710 - $55,000
